John Stein co-founded Fidelis Capital with Steve Dauphin and Billy Reiser in 2001. He is involved in all private market investment activities of the firm. From 1986 to 1988, John served on the investment staff of the Retirement Systems of Alabama, holding positions as both Fixed Income and Equity Analyst. From 1991 to 1996, he was an investment banker at The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse) in New York and was with Windward Capital Partners, an $875 million buyout fund also based in New York. From 1996 to 1999, John was co-founder and Co-Managing Partner of Petra Capital, a private subordinated debt fund based in Nashville.
Additionally, he was Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IntraMicron, Inc. from 2001 to 2009 and currently serves as Chairman. From 2009 to 2011, John served as Chairman and CEO of National Alabama Corporation, a railcar manufacturer located in northwest Alabama.
John received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Auburn University, a Masters of Business Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
